4 Tips on How to Lower Blood Sugar Levels




1. Keep a healthy diet. Food that is digested slower helps regulate the level of glucose in your bloodstream. Experts recommend lots of fruit (lemons, apples and oranges in particular), vegetables (peas and zucchini are considered the best) and grains like oats, barley and granola. Even if you have been diagnosed with diabetes, a healthy diet can keep it under control. Also, you should avoid soft drinks at all cost. They contain a huge level of carbohydrates and sweeteners and will poison your body. Stay away from junk food. Even if they taste so well, pizza, burgers, potato chips and, generally, everything that is baked with white flour will raise your blood sugar levels.




2. Exercise moderately. Jogging in the morning, before breakfast, can lower your blood sugar levels as much as the medication prescribed by your physician. There is no need for fancy gym subscriptions. Especially these days, with the economic crisis, we all want to get the best value for the dollar spent. Exercise can be easily done in the comfort of your home - a few pushups in the evening will also help you keep the glucose level down to a decent value.
3. Avoid stress. There are loads of factors that impact our day to day routine in a negative way. Being caught in a traffic jam when commuting to work, working overtime or having an argument with your boss or colleagues can increase your blood sugar level if you let these bring you down. A positive attitude can work miracles for your body.




4. Some over the counter drugs can affect the glucose concentration in your bloodstream. Make sure you read the ingredients list and learn about the side effects they may have on your health.
