Sugar and Diabetics Diet

Even though people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes need to be more careful with the carbohydrates (saccharides) intake in their diet, it does not mean that these must be cut out of their diet completely.
Carbohydrates (saccharides) are essential source of the body energy and are also important for good health. However, carbohydrates intake must be carefully monitored especially in people with diabetes, where the control of blood sugar levels is essential in the management of diabetes. For each diabetic, it is important to understand the link between carbohydrates intake and the rise in blood sugar levels after meals.

Though, while control of the carbohydrates intake in diabetics diet is essential, the rationale behind it is different for each of the two types of diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes and Diet
In people with type 1 diabetes blood sugar control is essential in the management of the condition and its progress. The intake of carbohydrates in the type 1 diabetics diet determines the amount of insulin needed in order to avoid erratic ups and downs in blood sugar levels. People with type 1 diabetes need to understand the impact of foods they consume on their blood glucose levels in order to administer the correct amount of insulin that will be individual to their needs and their condition. Therefore, people with type 1 diabetes will work closely with their healthcare professionals, especially in the early stages of their condition, to determine the correct dose(s) of their insulin.
Type 2 Diabetes and Diet

On the other hand, the main approach in the treatment of type 2 diabetes is diet control and maintaining fairly constant levels of target blood glucose levels. As research and many studies shows, adjusting dietary intake of carbohydrates dramatically improves the outcomes of type 2 diabetes and the development of risk factors. This generally means cutting down on the dietary carbohydrates intake, reducing portion sizes and choosing foods rich in essential and more beneficial for healthy being.
Overall, people with diabetes, either type 1 or type 2 diabetes should follow a healthy balanced diet rich in all nutrients.
